Did you know that approximately 10-15% of the population is left-handed? Yet most school supplies and everyday items are designed for right-handed users, creating unnecessary challenges for left-handed children from an early age.
Left-handed children often struggle with smudged writing, awkward scissor use, and difficulty reading measurements on standard rulers. These seemingly small obstacles can significantly impact their confidence, academic performance, and overall school experience.
As a result, we receive SO many phone calls / e-mails each year asking us for help / advice. We've picked just 3 of these to share on here:
- My 10 year old grandson’s writing on his summer holiday postcard was dreadful – really struggled with reading it. Need to help him – what do you suggest?
- My daughter is really struggling with her writing – it’s SO messy. Teachers are no help at all. Can you help?
- My son was born left handed and was highly intelligent. He is now 7 years old. During Reception, his teacher made him change to his right hand. I assumed that was just what happened once children started school. He started to struggle with reading, writing, concentration, he bed wets etc. Recommendations?
Why Left-Handed Children Need Specialised Products
Research shows that:
- Left-handed children using right-handed scissors can develop poor cutting techniques that persist into adulthood
- Standard rulers force left-handed children to work backwards, slowing down their mathematical development
- Inappropriate writing tools can cause hand fatigue and illegible handwriting
- Left-handed children are 2.5 times more likely to struggle with fine motor skills when using inappropriate tools
The good news?
With the correct tools designed specifically for left-handed use, these challenges disappear completely. Left-handed children can excel academically, develop proper techniques, and build confidence when given appropriate equipment - as the above customers can testify!

I'm Tracy from South Africa, left-handed and proud of it.
However, the currency conversion and shipping costs make it almost impossible for the average home to afford these 10 essential products a child needs.
We are able to get left-handed scissors here, but pens, pencils, rulers, sharpeners are not found here. We can create our own left-handed spirals books by turning them upside down.
Years ago I purchased a left-handed knife, which was sadly snatched when a guest realised it was left-handed. But it's quite understandable since I was reprimanded all my childhood years for cutting the bread skew.
Thanks for this site, it is still good to see how other left-handed people can flourish with the help of your products.
If a school wished to buy in bulk from us - or combine orders from parents, there could be some advantages??? - if that's a possibility, please let us know
