Left handed school experiences survey
There are lots of great things about being left-handed, but it can sometimes be hard trying to learn to do something in a right-handed way or with right-handed tools. Nowadays, many schools are realising that it's not fair to make us left-handers do things "back to front" and that left-handers deserve to be just as comfortable when they learn. There are lots of really useful left-handed teaching aids and equipment that are now available to schools, but some teachers still aren't using them! That's why we're asking you to fill in this survey to tell us how well your school looks after left-handed pupils.

Cutting a loaf of bread was always difficult and required a lot of blade twisting to get the cut parallel. I never understood this until I came across this website that explained the difference between left and right-handed knives. All is now fine with the special new leftie knife.
It used to annoy me when I was young and helping prepare things in the kitchen and my Mum would rush over saying "Oh give it here. You look so awkward doing it with your left hand". She then proceeded to un-dextorously continue the task. Mum's comments baffled me then and still do now.
Being left-handed is no longer a big issue; there is more to someone than what hand they prefer to write with.
It is generally accepted that 10% of the population are left handed.
That said, why is this ratio not true within the cricketing world.
In a team of 11 it is rare to see less than 20%.
Currently of the top 15 in the Australian Team (incidentally they just beat England 5-0 for the Ashes) there are 7 lefties Michael Clarke (Captain) bats right and bowls left. 45% lefties.
Likewise, the English team of 19 has 9 lefties or 47%.
I'd say lefties are well represented here.
Not sure if this anomaly holds for other team sports
Banks are the worst when pens are fastened down on the right hand side.
My daughter and nephew are lefties so I had to teach them how to tie shoe laces etc, their/our way.
Scissors are a nightmare, even now, I can't cut in a straight line to save my life!!
I am normal, its the rest of them that are different.
Recently I tried to learn to use the mouse left-handed and found it utterly impossible.
Interesting!

I've found that quite often desks are all set up with the mouse on the right hand side and the lead's not long enough to swap it over which is really annoying (and leftist!).
So Diamond if it suits you to use the mouse on the left side then carry on - I take it you don't grab the right-handers' mouse even though it's on your left side so they should be able to cope with yours being on their right side, so don't let them bully you into changing!
Oh and not all mice (mouses?) are shaped for right hands!
Well, you are absolutely right...we are special and like no one else. I was trained to
use the mouse right handedly as per the status quo...BUT, I can work the mouse and
write at the same time!!! Try that right handers. hehehe
