I don't have a printer. Is there a way to forward my certificate to a friend who does or is it possible to send a hard copy to me.

Many thanks! I am very proud to be a leftie and part of this special group.

The first thing I purchased from anything Lefthanded was from your shop and was a pair of pinking shears which have been my faithful companion in my sewing box ever since. I think it was even before I was married and that was 1975! So I could catch a bus direct to the shop! I visited many times and brought some items - some of which I have had to replace through old age (both the item and myself)! Plus two house moves!
  7. MIKE WRIGHT
Certificate printing and download was successful!

Love, love, love this site!! I only wish it had been around when I was a child. I am left handed in that I write with my left hand , color, paint, other crafts as well....but everything else I do right handed. I can eat with either hand, but had this site been around when I was a child I feel like I wouldn't have been Forced to learn how to do EVERYTHING right handed since it was totally against my nature....I know everyone else suffered too, I am just so excited that the world is finally accepting that some people are Left Handed and that companies now make special products to cater to the "Lefties'" needs. Thanks again ,
    Julie

    Since 1999! Welcome :)
  16. Christa
Why does the handprint design look like it's missing a finger?
  17. Christine Glenn
I love my certificate! It's colorful and this is the first time in my 60 years that I have had something acknowledging my uniqueness! I'm a lefty and proud of it!!
  18. Tom Mital
This is the second time I've had to print the certificate and it worked perfectly both times. Kudos to the creators of this website and to lefties everywhere.Happy Left Handers Day!!!!
  19. Liya Saffura
It worked perfectly for me! Luckily I came across this website while doing some research on handedness. I'm doing my masters now and I'm planning to write a thesis on Handedness. Feel free to share your interesting ideas and questions with me. ^_^
  20. Robert F. Jacobs

  21. Adam Cooper
Love the Certificate. I Like how we are acknowledged
  22. ed almanza
Being a lefty all my life .I grew up to realize I had certain ability most people don't have. I can write in beautifu
l cursive. Forward and in reverse. Without even trying. I can write draw any image I see. I learned to be a semi pro tennis player
Just from watching Wimbledon one summer. Once at ten years old I played 37 games of billiards pool.and the last thirty games
My opponent never got a shot. I can instantly learn a language if it is taught in song. Just a few of my advantages to being a lefty
  23. Melodie
Hey, Finally! After all these years I fit in, lol! The certificate worked for me. Love it love it love it!
  24. Nivio

  27. Tammy Smith
Love this! Had no problem printing out the certificate or the calendar, starting with Sunday. The calendar will take getting use to since I have never seen a Left-Handers calendar before, but I like the idea. Thank you so very much!!!
  28. Ruth Taylor
Thanks - the certificate printed out just fine - I printed it on fancy parchment paper - looks
terrific so I tacked it up on my bulletin board.
  29. Sharron Matthews
Certificate worked fine the second time around. Would not let me add name initially. Happy to be a member, this is a nice bit of fun after many years of frustration and some taunts and teachers who wanted to change the way I write. I do still object to being forced to follow a slant page to write the same as a right hander....and smudge the page...and lose marks ....

    Cheers,
    Shaz
  30. Shug
    Hi, Y'all!

    This site is awesome! Like me, my dad was left-handed. It's a shame that, in his day, left-handedness was frowned upon, so much so he was forced to write and eat right-handed. Thankfully, my folks didn't force that upon me. They supported me for who I am, as I presume Dr. Spock told parents to do that - ha! At any rate, I, too, am happy to be an elite club member. Remember, WE are the ones in our right minds! :-}
  31. Laurie
It worked marvelous for me. And the backwards calendar, that is just to show that 'MOST' lefties have an excellent sense of humor! And a backwards calendar just confuses those poor souls born right handed.... Our hearts are with you!
  32. Bhakti
I fond the calendar to be insulting!!! Left-handers are NOT backwards!!!
  33. Raphael Mokaya
Am a happy gentleman form Kenya who is actually proud to be left handed.Kenya being a developing country with poverty and all the uncertainties, also considering the fact that I come form a poor family, i made it through in my university undergraduate education.I strongly believe that the trait of being left handed in me highly contributed to my achievements. I am proud to be left handed!
  34. Karen
I don't like the backwards calendar - I find it insulting. We're not backwards and can certainly read from left to right. It's the various products we have problems with.
    1. DVT
Karen, don't get all upset about this.
Science is changing our calender completely.
At this post, todays date is 20140817.
Some people like to put dashs, 2014-08-17.
The reason they're doing it this way is a mathmatic order.
Definded by the interger point, the period, the dot.
So when I post this date and time, can be expressed like this...
      20140817.23.22
Blame Gene Roddenberry for this idea.
    2. Annette
I agree Karen, I don't want anything that even hints at the word backwards. I've been called this derogatory term and we should be celebrated not insulted.
    3. Christa
Lighten up! Nobody said we couldn't read from left to right; of course we can. This is just for fun. If you don't like it, nobody's forcing it on you! (-:
  35. Julie
    It worked perfect for me

    Hi left-handers !
I am one of you and just came across this site. I joined the community and downloaded my certificate. It looks so cool and it gives me self-confidence and self-esteem.
I am happy not to be alone. :)
    Thanks !
  37. Barbara Tierney
Yes the Certificate is working, but the name you type in must be right over to the right as it does no automatically centre.
    Great idea.
  38. Monique
I love this certificate! It makes my little man feel just a little Special& not like he's completely alone.. He is now a member of an elite club afterall.

Thank you for helping this mommy.
  39. stEphen
I am the only left hander in my family and I am proud of it. I really like the Certificate.
  40. Pratyusha
    Hello,
i am a lefty, and am so proud of it. it is so good to find lefties like me! very happy to be a part of this wonderful family! :D
  41. Kelly
Do they make spirals for lefties, or anything like a note book for lefties? In school we have to use those note books that have no spiral but they are still hard to use sometimes! It is so frustrating!
    1. Keith
      Hi Kelly
We are actually having some left-handed spiral notebooks produced at the moment. Watch the newsletter for an announcement when they are raedy.
  42. Henry Akwah
its actually working and thanks to you all.actually im wondering how this certificate is going to influence me in life
  43. Carol
Had no trouble adding my name to the certificate. I love being left-handed as it makes me 'different'. I just wish there were more equipment available at a cheaper price so that parents could buy them for their children and they would no have to struggle like I did.
  44. Sue
The certificate printed perfectly - thanks. It's nice to belong to an "elite" Club.

how many leftys are born aries. ive met atleast four. all my age 1987. I wanna meet a left hand girl to produce more of this rare species called southpaws. where are u !! lol
  47. Carli
One of my earliest memories of being made to feel "wrong" for being left handed was a teacher scolding me for repeatedly doing my 'ticks' (check marks) backward. The only thing wrong with that is her being too dumb to realise that because I am left-handed the "right" way just isn't natural.

To my disgust I could not convince my cousin to allow her daughter to use her left hand, this is in the UK and only ten years ago. Parents (sadly) need to be told this practice is cruel, and completely unnecessary. Not only that, it can be damaging to the child and affect them in later life.

I'm proud to be a lefty, I can also do 'mirror writing' and could use my right if needed, but it would not look quite as pretty! I can also mirror write with my right hand. I sometimes use this to show off to silly people who mock me for my left-handedness, to show them we can be at least as or more capable than them. The fact we have to adapt and manage to do so attests to this. It doesn't stop me from pulling a measuring tape out upside-down though! :)
    P. s. When I have computer access I will give feedback about the certificate.
  48. Connie
I have managed to put my name on the certificate. But is there any way of changing the colour of the font or using a fancy font? I have been a proud lefty for 18 years now and no matter what people say about being left handed, I'm glad to be a part of such a small group of special people :)
  49. Amy
I love bring left-handed. Writing backwards my friends have a hard time reading it. I have only a few lefty's in my family. Almost all my family is right-handed. I love bring different.
    Left-Handed power!!!
  50. Joan
As a lefty born just after the Second World War, I was considered awkward, clumsy and cack handed to name but a few. I'm glad that society is more able to cope with us folk who are Special. I now have a Great-Grandson who is left handed, so I am looking forward to helping him with all that is available to make life easier. The idea of a Certificate is lovely, I'm going to print mine in colour with pride.
  51. Jamie
I am happy to embrace being a lefthanded christian woman. I am creative, intiutive, and inciteful. Lefty's are very special people. I have 5 siblings and they are all right-handed. I am happy to be just a little different (in a good way).
  52. ImaNol G.A.

    Estáis todos invitados.

    Left Power !!
  53. Christy
I was able to print the certificate with my name on it! :-)
  54. Brenda
Just printed my certificate and was able to type my name. I've been a leftie since I was born. I always knew that we were in our right minds, but it's good to know that there are more of us out there. I've gotten so use to living in a right-handed world, that I will literally use a pair of right handed scissors with my left hand. It actually feels good to know that we are considered to be elite.
  55. Keith
You can add it yourself when you open the certificate PDF file

    Hi,
I'm a new member... My family: husband, myself and two kids are all left- handed... Everyone in the family sees things in a different way...
  67. Ralph
I have always been bi-handed; things I could do left-handed I could not do right-handed and things I could do right-handed I could not do left-handed. I eat and write left-handed, while I throw and bat right-handed. Sports have been a complicated process. I was as awkward at shooting a ball left-handed as all the right-handed guys. The first time I played badminton in high school, I deliberately put the racket in my right hand and missed completely. When I put the racket in my left hand, I discovered I could play badminton. Over the years I have joked that about the only thing I could do equally well with hands is miss the nail with a hammer.
  68. Linda
I've always been proud to be left-handed, even when my dad teased me about it.
  69. felice miles
I finally have an official certificate showing I'm an elite 10% of the world!!
  70. Keith
That is just an example to show where the name goes - you should be able to edit it and change it to your own name - just click on the name!

I am 50, I am proud to be a lefty. I used to oil paint, play guitar, piano and just about any instrument I picked up. I also did calligraphy and writings of all kinds.
I have Multiple Sclerosis and it has affected my left side, arm, leg, eye, ear, etc.
This site has helped. Now I have someplace to go besides my chair.
  78. Marsha Zambrano
it worked perfectly fine. I printed my name, but made a screen shot to keep it save. :-)
  79. zoe montague
Certificate printing fine, now I have proof I'm one of the elite!.
  80. Natalye
Yeehaaa! I have been using left handed rulers and scissors for years - but never knew about this awesome club. Think it's pretty neat to be able to print off a certificate too!

I am a pro active mum in Australia who is helping to educate my son's school in the differences in lefties (my son is a lefty too). I NEVER want him to go through what I went through during my school years....
  81. Terri
it worked for me great . I love this web site . in our family all the lefties are female . my Grandmother,my aunt,i have several female cousins about 6 of them, myself ,my sister, my niece and my daughter .the only male in the family would be my grandson and he is so little right now it's hard to tell if he will actually turn out to be left handed . i cannot wait to send my family links to this web site and thank you for creating it
  82. Verna McEachern
Glad there is a club just for left-handed people. Hope I can find out more about us.
  83. Keith
That is just the default to show you how it looks in the example - you can type your own name in when you download it!
  84. Ana
I am really glad i found this left-handers club. I am familiar with the problems that left had cause it.. especially at school. I discovered this page today, thank you :D
  85. Moyo
Whao! this is unbelievable - The Left-Handers Club, the left handed scissors, the Left Handers Day (August 13), beautiful life experience comments from my fellow left-handers, etc - learning about all these in less than 20mins of 'stumbling' on this heaven sent website? is just like a dream! It is like I've been leaving in another planent because (you may not believe it), I've never come across or heard about most of these things mentioned here before now and that is why I'm seeing your website as a God sent and a new revelation of my generation! May God bless you for this great work, it is an eye opener to me. Just like most of the comments/testimonies I read here, I am the only child in my family (or I should say in my lineage) that is left-hander and I can tell you that it has been so tough for me learning to write with left hand and a major concern to my helpless parents. Anyway, with this new discovery and more assitance from you, I beleived I can still strive to improve on my writing ability. As for the Certificate, if I say it is beautiful, its an understatement, it is awesome! I cannot wait to have my full name (MOYO OSIDIPE) embossed on it. Once again, I'm very glad I discovered your website today. Thank you so much.
  86. Sandra
We urgently need your recommendations to help my gradaughter in the kindergarten, she has problems with her teacher, because she is very slow in her activities a school. Thank you.
  87. frank quinlan
Yes the Certificate is a beauty .Like many who have also submitted replies ,I was /is a left hander from the pen and ink brigade in the forties . Now ,that was a drag with pen and inkpot ,ie dragging ones writing hand over fresh ink . Not an unusual story of course ,but it took ages to get a good handwriting off pat .

I am one (only) of seven (7) children born to my parents who is left handed. As a child I took a lot of abuse (laughable now), but not then. Growing up in a farm community in Western Illinois in the 40's & 50's was hard enough, but going to school and being the only one in a class of 20-some kids that was left handed was not an easy task. However, I felt I was a bit unique in a way, so most of the jokes, and ribbing I handled fairly well though. It was the being left out of many activities with other kids my age was not so easy to live with. I still feel somewhat unique, since only 10% of all the worlds population shares my left handedness. I thank you for allowing me to join your club and look forward the your newsletter and emails. My birthday is just 4-days after "Lefthanders Day.
  89. Ethan's mom
I'm so glad I found this! My son Ethan was going through a bit of a rough patch feeling left out (no pun intended) because he is the only lefty in the family. It's been hard to explain that his grandparents' generation were forced to use their right hand so that there could be a lot more left handed people but we just don't know now. He's getting a real kick out of this and we just printed his certificate with his name on it and posted it in his room. We also found a mention of August 13 as Internationl left-handed day and he's just tickled pink coz that's his birthday :)
  90. zahra
its pleasure to join that club as left handed!
and wish to get benefit and sharing the info about everything related to left handers ppl
thank you a lot for that amazing website!

  91. Vivek Singh

  92. Merlien
Added my name on the certifcate before printing without any problems!
Looks beautiful! Proud to be a leftie!
  93. Gilberto P
I would like to see a movie were only leftys are in the movie along with producers. It would be interesting.
  94. eileen
My mom is left handed and I am the only child, out of four children who came out left handed. Glad to know I'm not alone in this right handed world.
  95. Ethan
I am predominantly left handed but am also ambidextrous. I write forward, backwards, upside down forward and backwards all in cursive. I can write forward with one hand and backwards with the other hand at the same time. I can also write words in cursive by starting at the very end of the last letter and ending at the beginning of the first letter. I eat with both hands, even with chopsticks. I type only left handed though. I learned the alphabet backwards at age 4. I taught myself how to read and was reading books upside down by age 8. I have even taught myself how to dream upside down. Believe me, that's no easy task! Mind over matter, I can also move small objects without touching them.

BTW; the certificate worked perfectly! Thanks! :o)
  96. Lisa
I am so happy to be here! On my Mother's side of the family all of my female cousins are left handed (like me) and the boys are right handed. As we have had children the role is reversed: boys left handed and girls right handed. My Mother fought hard for me as a child so that teachers would not try to make me right handed, and I am so very happy about that. The number of comments I get when I turn the paper completely sideways to write is far outweighed by the compliments I get on my writing.

    Thanks for this great organization!!!
  97. Danna
Kudos to all precious few south paws on earth!:)
  98. Chanta
Hello, I'm also a leftie and am a very creative, and musical person and was once told to write with the paper straight versus turning it sideways. Not sure if anyone else turns their paper slightly to the left like I do, but it makes it easier for me to write and keeps my hand from getting smudged with ink or lead. Also, I've always hated writing on boards because the words always go sideways for me. However, overall, I don't have too many problems with other utensils except can openers and have become a lil ambidexturous over the years.
  99. Tim McIntosh
A great day for the true minority group of the world, the proud the flipping the world around so we can understand it, the why don't they make anything for us group.

Despite being the only lefty in my family, nobody in my family ever tried to switch me. I am a fabric artist and have both left and right handed shears. When I was first learning to sew there were no readily available left-handed scissors, so I learned to use them and bought lefty shears later. I love the rotary cutter, because it is truly a hand-neutral device. (I don't like the word "ambidextrous" because it means "having two right hands.") I know this site is British. In the US most righties switch hands when they eat so they both cut and eat with the right hand. I cut with the right and eat with the left, which my grandparents called "Continental style," meaning the way Europeans eat. Since all but one of my grandparents were European born, they never thought twice about my eating Continental style, although one grandfather didn't notice I was left-handed until I was twelve. When he asked my mother why nobody had switched me, we both said, "well, it's too late now," but my mother fought hard for me to follow my natural hand inclination as much as was possible with the available tools.

    Happy Lefthanders Day to all!
  102. john
what do they say about lefties, we're the only ones in are right minds no puns intented
  103. Angela
To this day, because there were not very many "lefty" scissors, I have difficulty cutting with scissors using my left hand. It is nice to have people who can relate to "lefty" frustartaions
  104. Trevor
    Hi

Pleasure meeting you all, yes! am complete Left Handed Person, everything I do is from the left side of the planet!
Be surprised am too proud to say this, today is my BIRTHDAY!!
It feels so special to share this day!
  105. Carol Sailer
I am 77 yrs. old and have six children -- four of which are left-handed. It is dominant! My father was lefthanded, but they tried to correct him in grade school and he stuttered until he was 25 yrs old when my mother helped him get over it. I enjoyed reading these comments; I never thought about the fact that the fact that I read a magazine from the back to front is part of left-handedness. Love the companionship here. Years ago when I visited Fisherman's Whaft in San Francisco I found a lefthanded store where I got lefthanded playing cards and a double lipped gravy/soup ladle. (still have it).

Was quite a challenge as a teacher - for 25 years - to get penmanship lessons to pupils, when they couldn't understand why I wrote "upside down" and yet my penmanship looked as good as the Zaner-Blozer charts above the chalk board. I thank my elementary school teachers for that. Few , if any, people can tell from my writing that I am a leftie since I slant all my letters like a right handed person.

I thought when I pulled up the LHC Member Certificate that either my name would already be written onto the certificate or that I'd be able to insert my name onto the certificate, before printing it out. I guess it would be impossible to be able to modify the certificate, by inserting one's name in the underscore area, before then printing it. Just an idea.
    1. Keith
      Hi Tim
Your are correct and we will work on improving it.
  108. Ashleigh
I'm glad to know that other people have similar experiences being lefties as I did. When I was first learning to write, my mom (who is right handed) told me to put the pen in my right hand. (Well, first, I didn't know my right from left until I was sixteen, and not at three, and second, my left hand felt "right" for me, so that's where I held the pen.) Whenever I started writing, she would move the pen from my left hand to my right, and I would try to write like that, but it was uncomfortable so I kept moving it back. She got frustrated and gave up on teaching me how to write for a while. I still remember it like it was yesterday because I couldn't understand why it mattered which hand I used. I ate with my left, my left side is dominant, and I wanted to write with the comfy left hand. My dad is a leftie too. I still don't know why my mom had a problem with it.
In school, I often had the problem with smeared ink or lead on the side of my hand from dragging across my hand, and I was always irritated by that and the smudging on my paper. Holding my hand up above the paper to write was too tired on my arm, though, so I always smudged, and it felt so sloppy. And not to mention the desks where you have to cross your left hand across your body just to write.
A few of the other "leftie" issues I noticed on the site I have, but most of them I realized were trained out of me. I either have ambidexterity (using a computer mouse, throwing a ball, and even writing in rare cases) or my left hand is dominant. The most irritating one has got to be the "I want to go that way so you go the other way... UGH which way are you going!" dance. i've gotten over the i'm going to move back and forth until you make a decision stage and just started moving to the left so the other person can walk awkwardly to the left as well.
    1. christy
You hit home on the dance moves! I'm not uncoordinated but have never been able to pick up line dancing or any other kind of dancing for that matter but never associated that with being a leftie....
I have had 100's of people try to teach me and I just can't get it. It is frustrating. I feel better hearing others have that issue too.

I just joined the club today. I'm 53 and feel special being left-handed. I come from a family of six siblings and I have one left-handed sister also. My sister and I must have gotten the gene from our mother since she was also left-handed. I have three children and my oldest (a male) is also left-handed.

I'm happy to be a part of this community!!

Love being left handed! I think it's a gift. Sometimes I think that if I were right handed I probably wouldn't be smart or as creative or whatever as I am now. I'm so thankful to be a left hander!
  117. Darshana
Hi , everyone, I'm left handed too. nice to meet you all. I really think being a left handed person is a privilege and honor, because they are very rare and always creative than others. I was very special in school although I realized my talents very recently.

I am very good in ball games as well as learning. but some times it is very embarrassing that my calculating skills are so poor.

But all the other things I am in front of all.
  118. Andrew
Am proud to be a leftie. Wasn't born a leftie but lost use of my right arm after a car accident as a child so had to learn to write left handed. Only recently discovered this site, what a godsend!

Hello. At last I could find an organization of 'southpaws'. I am a left handed and I got it from my mother and uncles... and so was grandma too!
I find it difficult to use some of the real world things.. such as scissors, which are meant only for right handed people.. There should be some product variants useful to left handed people like us...
  127. Kev
I always knew I was left handed even as a small child both of my parents were right handed and me being a lefty never seemed to bother them, one day while at school my teacher saw me writing with my left hand, she proceeded to restrain my left hand and made me write with my right hand, the next morning my mother went to have a word with the teacher in her own unique way I don't know what was said but from then on the teacher was very accommodating, thanks mom its great being a lefty.
    1. Tee
My mom did the exact same thing! My oldest child is a lefty and I had to fight her teachers as well.

Hi there, I when I began my first stages of writing as a child, I automatically knew i was left-handed. trying to write with my right hand didn't feel right. My grandfather on my mom's side was left handed, none of here siblings are. I am the youngest and the only one in my family who is left-handed. i feel that God created me to be left-handed.
    1. Perlitha
Hi MargieThanks for winirtg. There's no really simple answer to this. To start with, your son is going to first find out that playing Guitar Hero is not really very much like playing guitar. It makes sense that he would play the game left handed because that would mean his right hand would be doing all the interacting with the computer in order to get a good score. On Guitar Hero and other similar games, the scores are based on getting the fingers in the right place at also the right time. So he's trusting his strong hand to handle the both the keeping in time and being in the right place on the neck as far as the buttons are concerned. But on the regular guitar each hand has its own job. If you think about it, why don't right handed people play guitar left handed? Doing so would let the right hand handle the fretting of the notes, which seems a lot more complicated than strumming and picking. The real reason is that the guitar is first and foremost a rhythm instrument. And most people prefer to use their dominant to play rhythms. So the first thing your son will have to figure out is whether or not he can strum and keep rhythm accurately and with a good sense of ease with his left hand. If that proves to be the case, then he certainly can play left handed. If he does decide to play left handed, one thing he should know is that his future selection of guitars is going to be much more limited than if he were playing right handed. Manufacturers don't make every guitar model available to left handed players. And. for some people (even left handed people!), that's reason enough to go with a right handed guitar. If he's really unsure, the best bet would be to go with a very inexpensive right handed guitar that he can just switch the strings around and play left handed to experiment. And he should definitely make a serious attempt with both ways if he's not sure. That way if he decides to stick with playing left handed, he can then get a guitar more to his liking and you'll probably be able to sell the right handed one (although he may decide he likes it that has happened to many folks). And if he decides to go right handed, he will have a guitar he can use until he gets to the point where he'll want to upgrade. Hope this helps. The best of luck to you and your son and please feel free to write anytime if you want more advice. I look forward to chatting with you again. Peace
    2. Patty
Ditto Geoff. On all counts. I just recently ran into a problem being left-handed however. I've been training my own colts for a lot of years and apparently been applying leg pressure for direction on the wrong side of the horse from everyone else!!! Never really thought about it before because what I'm doing works! Feeling em barrassed.... Don't think I can change, doesn't seem normal.
  130. DJ
I am a righty...my husband was a lefty forced to write with his right hand. My first real experience with a left handed person was when I was a Nanny. The little girl was the only left handed person in their house. She was never forced to try to do things backwards or wrong. We just found ways to make things work for her left handed.
I knew when our youngest child was not even 2 years old that she was going to be left handed. She thinks differently, processes things differently and is most definitely left handed now at 4 1/2 years old.
I've been doing some searching online to find the best way to teach her how to write and get on in a right handed society without many problems, while embracing her left handedness. I've found lots of worksheets, shops and helpful tools to guide her and me (it's not easy being right handed and trying to teach a child to write left handed but I am determined to help her succeed). I like this site and the club, which is why I joined....if I learn more, I can teach her more and give her a head start for when she enters school next year. :)

Hey, I am only lefties in my family. I always something doing get and start left hands and left legs. So I have very Happy.......and proud of this web site.
LEFTIES ARE BEST IN THE WORLD.
  132. Lisa Marie
    Hi everyone,
Its great to read about the experiences of other lefties. My experiences seem to be so much different that I just have to share them with all of you. My parents realized I was going to be left handed when I was about 4 years old and stopped using both hands, obviously favoring my left. I was the only left handed person in my family. No one seemed to think anything of it, and because of that, neither did I. Throughout grade school, I was treated no different. I experienced almost no difficulties at all. Learning to write in cursive was a bit of a challenge simply because my hand smeared the ink as I wrote, but my handwriting was as good as the righties. I have always used right handed scissors with my left hand with no problems at all. I never realized that left handed scissors existed until I was in high school and till this day have never used them. I eat with my left hand, but use a knife with my right. I've been told I eat European style, as I don't shift my fork. This came naturally to me, no one ever taught me to eat this way. I use a computer mouse with my left. However I swing a baseball bat and golf club right handed. I shoot pistol and rifle right handed. I even throw a bowling ball with my right hand, but I throw a baseball and football with my left, shoot pool left and attempted to learn how to play a left handed guitar. I was never influenced in any of it. I was allowed to pick up the equipment and hold it comfortably before I was actually taught how to use it. I always considered myself as very lucky and special. I can do more with both of my hands than any right handed person could. I just can't imagine a right handed person throwing a bowling ball with his/her left, or swinging a bat or golf club left handed. Its all a matter of perspective. From the way I see it...the right handed population are the ones with the disadvantage. They can't do nearly as much with their left hands than a leftie can do with his/her right! I really feel lefties have the best of both worlds. I really am privileged to be left handed!! :o)
    1. K.T.
Hello, im k.t. this is so awesome, but funny!!! I did not know we have our own club for lefties. this make me feel special. I have a 13yr old son thats a lefty and his dad is a lefty as well. When my son was a baby, his grandmother tried to get him to do everything in right-hand form. My son was determined to be a lefty he kept switching it back to his left hand!!!! what make it more funny she was getting mad; i was rollin!!! I guess we are unique cause lefties are more creative and ive witnessed it for myself and my son.

Hello fellow lefties!! Our "right handed world" has added lots of confusion to my life....especially in my younger years!! This created a slower reaction-time, in some cases, when I had to think twice to try to figure out which hand to use - there were many times I would drop something and was considered clumsy while being forced to use my right hand. This made my life difficult in school as well at home. My father also was a lefty as a child and he was forced to use his right hand. Interesting enough, my dad would try to teach me to use my right hand as well. Later in life, funny now, I write with my left and bowl with my right and my father writes with his right and bowls with his left!! What frustrates me the most is when I have to stop and think of which hand to use!!! For example, I wanted to learn how to golf. My boyfriend tells me: "you know, could you possibly try to use your right hand to golf...that way we won't have to bother getting left-handed clubs??" I have to actually try both hands just to figure what I am.... Can any of you relate???? I believe it has effected my brain in a negative way. How many right-handed people are forced to use their left hand?
    1. Ugino
I can relate when i was younger it use to make me mad that i had to use my right hand on stuff when i was left handed. So i somewhat learned how to use my right hand for somethings but now when i go bowling i use both hands just to mess with people its fun.
    2. BLynn
It always made me mad when people would say, "just try it with your right hand".....well, YOU try it with your LEFT hand! (not gonna happen) lol
  135. Don
I write and eat left-handed. I just learned to live in a right-handed world, doing everything else with the wrong hand.
    1. Lana
It's a shame that we have to be forced to do something our body has a difficult time adapting to. It would be different if we HAD to. Some people have no choice - due to an accident which forces them to use the other hand.
  136. Terrence
I've gone so many years without any kind of support with my being a lefty. Thank you for the certificate. I'm 71 and I would like to work on my handwriting. Not only was I subjected to the right hand teachers on my writing but, I was one of the lucky ones to get beat for it by teachers. many thanks for your website and the internet.
  137. IMANI
I knew something was special about me. I am glad to be a part of the left handed community. WE ROCK!!!
  138. corey

  139. cherene
yes im so proud to be left-handed people talk about people like us but i always tell them that i was born a left-handed person thank you for making a site just for us
  140. Henry
Being Left handed has made me feel special, and part of an elite group of people...As a Guitarist, it has really helped me to become very proficient as an artist...For me the world is backwards...All of us Lefties, should learn to play right-handed Guitars, for the vast number of the poor right-handed folks, they should begin their lessons on a left-handed guitar...and the reason is because the dominate hand should be used to play the chords, it just makes sense to me, as I grew up around a bunch of right-handed players, and I figured it was the way to do it...later in life I realized that I was blessed beyond belief not having to struggle to make even the most difficult chords, so as you can see us lefties are really cool people...Henry.
  141. Rhea
Although being left handed is lovely because it makes us different, it shouldn't cause problems with reading. Those of us who are of a certain age just had to learn to use things with the wrong hand because that was all there was. I couldn't use left handed scissors now because as a child there were only right handed ones, so I learned to use those.
It's the same with reading. Kids just have to learn that in this country we read from left to right; doesn't matter if you're right or left handed, blue, green, hindu, moslem, martian, we still read from left to right and just have to learn that that's how we do it.
  142. Larry
It is really neat to have found a left-handed club! I moved here from Texas and have noticed a very high number of left-handed people here. I have never seen a town with so many left-handed people in it. Did you know God used a left-handed assassin in the Old Testament of the Bible to get rid of an evil king? The kings guards searched the guy looking for his weapon thing he was right handed, but they didn't look on his person where a LEFT handed person would carry a knife. Anyway, I don't remember where that incident is found in the Bible, but I seem to remember reading that all of Davids Mighty Men were left handed and they could throw a spear farther with accuracy than a right hander etc.
I have pretty well had to learn to be ambidextrious in a right handed world. Being an extremely visually oriented person, I learn by watching, which means if a right handed person taught me a particular skill, I generally use my right hand to do it, but using tools, I use whichever hand is handiest, i.e., using a screw driver, when my left hand gets tired I switch and use my right hand for awhile etc. I vastly prefer to learn a new skill with my left hand as it is easier that way, but you do what you have to in order to survive in a right handed world. I would love to learn fencing, as I would have a distinct advantage as a lefty, because lefties are used to the foibles of right handed people. Right handed people are used to other right handed people, but a left handed fencer throws them off. In high school, the baseball coach used me in batting practice and practice games as a pitcher. One of the guys had as one of his "heroes", Mickey Mantle, the New York Yankee home run hitter, and this kid had an ego bigger than whatever. Anyway, he'd grab the heaviest bat in the rack and swagger up to the home plate and sneer at me. I delighted in striking him out. I had a curve ball that just about sizzled and he'd almost break his shoe laces swinging at that curve ball. Lol. Fun! He'd grip his bat way down by the end and swing for the fences. Mighty Casey has struck out! LOL! If any of you reading this are American and in your sixties, you'll know what I mean.

"As the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side of the body then only left-handers are in their right minds!"
I copied this from the t shirt from left hander's club, this is awesome
  144. Brian Stamper
Hi everyone, glad to be here. I have been a huge promoter of the whole left handed people being elites things for as long as I can remember. So just remember everyone Keep them left hands in shape, cause when the right handed apocolypse happens you'll be super thanksful...lol j/k. I am also friends with predominantly are left handed which I thought was Kind of weird especially because we just all seemed to meet each other at random times. Who knows maybe we are sort of attracted to each other. I mean we are all here... right? Everyone Have Great Days ahead. GO LEFTIES!!!!
  145. Helson
Today I am so happy that after so many years I can meet my brothers and sisters in the so called 'evil hand'. Coming from Africa down in the interior parts of Kenya where teachers will give me lashes because I use left hand left me with pain and bitterness, but am happy we are so many. I love it so much comrades

This site is awesome! I have had trouble all my life with people telling me I'm backwards and that I do things in an odd manner. I like being odd and find it nice to be no so ordinary. Great products Great info and Great people. Lefties rule!!!
    1. Lotus Carbonell
      same case!
  154. garima dutt
Hi, got on to this site while browsing... joined the club. As a left-hander, I have never felt disadvantaged, probably because my parents, teachers, friends or colleagues have never treated me differently. Barring a few incidents where I have been told that I look a bit weird writing from my left hand or stirring the pan while cooking; or was wrapped on my knuckles at a sweet shop for touching the sweets with my left hand ;) - I have never faced any major social stigma. I feel a lefty can do everything and yes if anything we become ambidextrous as we have to continuously navigate in a world where everything is made for right-handers. But I, for one have never been made to feel special or even different.
And yes, I have also downloaded the certificate and would put it on my office desk. :)

    Cheers

Lefties united!!!!!!! not everything in life is one size fits all and now our voice can be heard-product designers take note-no more drinking fountains with the lever only on the right side! any ideas for a three ring notebook? i say do away with them in class rooms-how about designing a car so that the driver can reach all the controls with their left hand?-yeah i know im dreaming big huh?
    1. LeftHandDominant
Not at all dreaming big,I dream of a left handed keyboard.
It is discrimination to force left handers to adopt to the majority.
Maybe it is something to do with the silly notion that LH's are "evil" in christian teachings.
Why even the word right by definition says it is "correct, just" etc.
My theory is it is right handed people who are the evil ones.
How many people born with left handed dominance use their left hands irresponsibly ?
It is utter absurdity.I am interested to know how many left handed people are married to or have relationships with left handers ?
      Anybody know ?
      Reply here :)

Hello there! I am glad that I have found your website! I came across it while surfing for information reguarding my left-handed / 6 year old daughter - who is having a considerable amount of frustration dealing with writing AND reading. I seem to be able
to find answers to her writing problems quite easily, but I haven't been able to find any information on helping her to read. She constantly starts to read a book from right to left. Do you have any info about left-handers and reading? I loved the writing video!!!...but, if you have anything on reading books, that would be excellent!

    Thank-You for your time!
