Backwards Calendar

Left Handers Club Calendar 2026

Each year we produce a left handers calendar running from right to left as a lot of people seem to enjoy it and ask for it. Like anti-clockwise watches, lefthanders find it a lot easier to read than right-handers so it is nice to confuse them! Use the links below to download the calendar. Historically, we have called this a "backwards" calendar & whilst this is technically the correct name for it, we understand that there are many with strong feelings against linking "backwards" with left handedness. We are therefore just calling it the "Left Handers Club Calendar" - though to keep the SEO rankings we have left the old description in the links used to access the 2026 files

If you are not already a member of The Left Handers Club, join free now using the form on the home page of our website

Please note that we cannot print the calendar for you and send it by post because of the cost involved.

Use this link to download the 2026 Mon-Sun calendar as an Adobe.pdf format file (you can open it with the free Adobe Reader).

You may need to Right click the link then choose “Save target as…” or “Save link as…” then you can choose the location to save the file to on your computer.

2026 Calendar with Sunday starting the week

We have had a lot of people telling us that having calendars starting the week on a Monday (which is the normal format in the UK) is not the same worldwide and in the USA and other places it is standard to have Sunday as the first day of the week. See our article about which day starts the week here.

Use this link to download the 2026 calendar with SUNDAY starting the week as an Adobe.pdf format file (you can open it with the free Adobe Reader software)

Left-handed diary and planner for 2026 - 52 page spiral-bound book

We also have a limited number of the "physical" Left Handed Diary for 2026. It is a spiral-bound diary book that opens from left to right and is tailor-made for us left-handers. To make it easier to use, it features planning pages on the left side of each weekly spread (Monday - Sunday) and on the right, there is ample space for notes along with an interesting fact about left-handedness. The calendar also recognizes the birthdays of famous left-handed people. Following pressure from us and Club Members, the publishers reversed the printing so that it opens from left to right - the proper direction for us lefties. 52 double-page spreads, one for each week of the year. Size: 6.25 x 8.25 x 0.5 inches; 16 x 21 x 1.3 cm Find out more and order your diary

Any chance you could publish an academic calendar for us left-handed teachers?
    1. Anything Left-Handed
Hi, in terms of a physical product to purchase I am afraid that the demand for this is not sufficient to get one made for us at a reasonable price point - sorry.
  2. Tom Meikle
I am not left-handed. I know people who are but I would like to have a left-handed 2027 calendar starting from December 2027 to January 2027.
  3. Clifford Crate
The link downloads the 2024 calendar.

This is very helpful, but I am ambidextrous. I can read it either way, but it is very comfortable to read this calendar and look at the planner.
  8. Christine MCCOLE
Such a rest for my brain as I pinpoint the dates with ease. Just shows some of the difficulties we face as left handers. The ruler was amazing and buying pens, scissors etc for left handers is such a relief.

    Hello

I have downloaded the 2022 calendar but can hardly see the print, can this be made larger and in BOLD like the 2021 calendar

    Love "Our" Backwards Calendar!!!

    Much Easier To Understand!
  13. Randy Feasel
My grandaughter is also left handed. Knowing there are others out there that are left handed makes her happy.

I am ambidextrous thanks to my school in the 60s/70s. Was the only leftie in my class so I sew right, cut right but can't hold a pen or a spoon in my right hand. Total leftie there. Out of a mum and dad and 3 kids, me and sister are lefties
  15. Sian Angus
Totally agree. Can't use the numbers on the right either.
I text using the middle finger of my left hand, anything else is wierd
  16. Sian Angus
I want that calendar but don't have a printer. Nowhere open publicly to print it. Grrrrrr
  17. Danny Amos
I'm Left-handed but I don't read backwards. The diary is ok.
  18. Cathy Price
It was a 2020 calendar, not 2021. I've had entirely enough of 2020, thanks.
  19. Dave B
This is brilliant, thank you , I had the 2019 calendar backwards and I can use this far better than a forward calendar, any day. At times I wished I had a left-handed keyboard as I most of the times hit the Y key rayher than the T key. As you I did then, rather should I say. As the going says, "Us Left-Handers are the only ones in our right minds" ;-)

Years ago the first thing I bought was a Lefthanded keyboard from anything Lefthanded. Was still using it up to us changing over to an iMac last year. Anything Lefthanded sells really good products

I wanted to let you know how this site has improved my life!!! Quite awhile ago I got one of the kitchen kits. Oh my word....the can opener. I had no idea how much I had struggled all my life. What a wonderous contraption!!!. I wanted to sit there and open all the cans in the house!. And the left handed scissors. I always hated art etc because of scissors. I am 64 and until I used those scissors and could SEE where I was cutting again I had no idea. So even though I am on the older end I too am enjoying a life made easier by your implements. THANK YOU!!!!
  21. John Rosado
    Thanks so much!!

I am a parent of 7 children 2 are left handed, I am also a teacher that has worked with age groups that vary from infant to school age. I have learned that teaching a child that is left handed is only possible when you understand the world is designed for right handed people. My eldest left handed child made me challenge myself and think about why she struggled to read and write. When I once I taught myself to see the world as she does, I was able to understand how their brains function! So many of our kids think they aren't capable of learning, but the fact is they are really left handed so their brain is working double time in this right handed world!!!
  23. Francesca
the Sunday week start calendar is still linking to 2018 not 2019
    1. Francesca
i tried a couple more times and now it opened properly.
  24. Jen
Excellent idea for those that need it. I don't find it hard with a normal calendar, but know for sure, when I read a magazine, I always start at the last page. I just have to page backwards, very frustrating, as what if the article or story commenced on the page before. I'm OK with novels though. Strange.?? Lucky - otherwise I would see the end first. Oh, our left-handed brains! But who of you are very artistic ! I am, as well as my 2 left-handed children. That's a blessing indeed. Even though we can't use a vegetable peeler between the 3 of us!
  25. G6JPG
"(see below for the original Excel versions of the file that you can edit and also for other options)" - I tried, but couldn't see it!

(I want to make one with a yellow background, since our company's standard one comes out on yellow card [I could just print it on the back of one of those], and also remove the LH wording, so people don't realise until they try to read/use it!)
  26. Wendy Constantinoff
    Thank you I love this
  27. Suzie Ridgley
Please don't call this a backwards calendar. It is not backwards to a leftie. Just because righties are in the majority does not mean their way is automatically the only or right way. Please just call this a leftie calendar. It is not at all backward to me.
    1. Christina
    2. Christina
      Well said, I agree.
  28. Makaita
im really liking the backward calender its dope
  29. Christine
Dear Keith, My week starts with Sunday because I am a Christian and we celebrate Jesus' resurrection on the first day of the week which for us is Sunday. See Luke 24 in the New Testament of the Bible.

I'm having problems using a knife for my feet because the blade comes out all the time and I have to use the blade on it's own which is somewhat dangerous! Do you know of a universal knife? Thanks.

At age 66 I sometimes find it difficult to adapt to left-handed items because I've used right-handed ones for so long but am glad they are available esp for children. Thanks for the calendar.
    Christine.
  30. Jacqueline Cook
I love the calendar....it drives my co-workers crazy trying to figure out the days...keep up the good work.

The left-handed calendar is so amazing i had so much fun using it ☺
  32. Michelle
I love this cause I do things backwards ppl say and ever since I was a baby my Uncle has called me crawfish lol I love being a lefty
  33. Duncan Pohl
    Dear Sirs,

I have always enjoyed your Left-Handed Calendars but it has taken me a few years to realize they all have a serious error. While the calendar dates are backwards the spelling of the calendar and the months are not. I think for the calendar to really be a true left-handed calendar, EVERYTHING should be backwards, oops, strike that - everything should run
    Left!

    :-D

    Hi Keith,
I too like to confuse the Righties.
I'm a L/H Woodturner. Not sure if I have said this before, but I believe that the Wood Lathe was made by a L/Hander for the Left Handers.
Reason is that we stand in the centre of The Lathe,to Turn, where as the Righties have the Head Stock to contend with.
Well that is what I Preach.
    Love It.
    Regards,
    Lewis
  35. Leesa Passarelli
I'm so excited to be part of this group which I'm sure has amazin, unique, loving people wit awesome personalities!!! Lookin forward to our next lefty adventure lol. Have a fantastic day my brothers & sisters!

Surely clocks that circle the other way can be described as going Widdershins?
    1. Jill Lyons
Sounds right if your Wiccan (as I am.)
  37. David Duffee
Hear Hear Kieth! We do indeed speak English not the American version of English. When American websites start to cater for English clients and start using English terminology ( pavement for sidewalk or boot for trunk, trousers for pants etc ) then ONLY then should we start reciprocating. Whilst our language is adaptable, it should not be subsumed by an, admittedly related, foreign language. Stick to your guns.Love the calendar, it's so easy to use and confuses all the right handers where I work. David

  40. Catherine McLaughlin
Thank you, I look forward to getting this calendar every year. Cathy
  41. Anne-Marie Marsh
What a wonderful idea! I have copied one in pink for my daughter and 1 each in blue for my 2 leftie pupils. Thank you so much!
  42. Chip
I love getting my new calendar each year. It's great when I have an opportunity to have someone look at it with me as I nonchalantly try to pick out a date for a meeting. They always flub their way around for a few seconds then ask me what's going on. The calendar is even better than when one of our IT guys has to work on my computer and can't find the mouse because it's on the left (correct) side of the computer. Thanks from Denver, CO, USA.
  43. Bonnie D
Thank you so very much for this! I had no idea how hard my brain works until I have seen this. My brain went AHHHHHH!!! Thank you! LOL I ordered the left hander's desk calendar for my office. I cannot wait to get it. I had one 2 years ago and loved it!
  44. Sue
Thank you for the backward lefty calendar. The Left Handers Club is a wondrous club to take part in and I'll be sure to mention to any lefty's I come across. Keep up the great work and enjoy the Holiday Season!
  45. Sigrid Hofmann
Dear Left-Handers Club Team, many thanks for your thoughts, activities and input in 2014.When I was a child, I believed, it was just me being "wrong". LHC helps me in arranging myself in a right-handers-world better and shows good ways of how to make right-handers aware of Lefties' struggles in everyday life.Sigrid
  46. Judy
Hi from Beijing, China :)Yay I've just got the calendar ^-^ It will be a great fun !Happy new year everyone & unite !

  48. Glenda
Thank you so much for doing this! Righties just don't get how much we have had to adjust to! I have printed a few to share with fellow lefties.
  49. carmen
I have shared the calendar with fellow lefties every year, and transformed some of the right wings to read my calendar as well :) thanks for the superbness. when will 2015 calendar be available?
  50. Nicky Field
Hi Just wondering,if anyone else does this, since I was a small child which was a long time ago, I find writing backwards easier and faster for me, my father used to think it was great and get me to write something so people could read it in a mirror, do u know if there is a lot of other people that is like that, it comes more natural to me ,than writing forward, cheers Nicky
  51. Carmen
    Excellent calendar
  52. praneeth

Finally............I've been looking for years to find a shop, dedicated to us lefties. Life really is harder as a leftie, but now I've found you and your shop, my life can be made that little bit easier. If only I knew of your shop in my life earlier.
Can you send me directions to your shop, so I may browse. The calendar I've just downloaded, when I look at it, somehow is much easier to understand! I already have a clock that runs "backwards" as they say, But to me, it runs in the correct direction. And a watch? I've gotta see it....how much for the watch?? Ooh, I'm gonna spend a small fortune in your shop, I think. So glad I've found you. Please please please, don't ever close. I bet you're busy all the time! I know of lots of people who like you and me are left-handed, so when I like you on my facebook, you may get a few more who will register.

    Yours Sincerely

    Kevin.
  56. Marisa Rious
Would like to receive the calendar by mail THANK YOU
    1. Keith
      Hi Marisa
We don't mail the calendar because of the cost involved so you will need to just download and print it yourself.
  57. Alan K
Why is August 13 shown with a border?
    1. Ed
Because it's left handers day. And its also my birthday, convenient cause im also a lefty.
  58. Darrell
I just received the left handed wrist watch. It is so cool. Didn't have any trouble reading it. I have shown it to my family and friends and they really laugh at it. What a conversation starter about being left handed. It is so enjoyable to be "normal" Ate dinner with my wife's sister and her family. There six people at the table - 5 left handed - we didn't fight over who had to sit on the end of the table. Have a left handed day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  59. Carmilla
I absolutely LOVE being lefthanded! We are skilled, smart, creative and most of all, adaptable! Growing up left-handed in a family of 10 right-handed people, I have had to learn to be most adaptable. We are a unique group of people who should celebrate our 'culture'.
    1. Gillian
We have to be more adaptable and creative to survive in a right handed world.
  60. Anna C.
Love this site can get great gifts for myself and myleft handed friends!!!!
  61. Kelly D
I love the idea and all but I want there to be boxes so tht I can write things for each date... I don't know if it bothers anyone else but I'm just a bit OCD!
  62. Chris herbert
nice calendar! My friends think that I am a freak! But I am just educating them, slowly! :)
    1. Carmilla
I absolutely LOVE being left-handed! We are special, talented, skilled and above all, most ADAPTABLE. I love the calendar; it feels good to my eyes.
  63. Keith
    It will be coming soon!
  64. Sandra K
Ok this is for all LEFTIES in the world. Please always keep this in mind.
Right handed people use the the left side of their brains and Left handed people use the right side of their brains. So, that means that only left handed people are in their right minds!!!!!!!!!!!
  65. Meena
Love this! Friends told me today that it was International Lefties Day, so I'm very glad to become a member today! My sister and mum are lefties too, so in our family, we rule! And am rubbing my sore thumb from using a pair of right handed scissors too much on the weekend - definitely going to get me some of those lefty scissors!
  66. stephen
hi being a left hander I have always been teased by my school mates and a couple of my family members I stated telling them stuff like this one day and they stopped thanks to your club mu life has changed thanks stephen

  67. Mary
I am a Certified Left Hander and I'm proud being one..:)
  68. Becky
Have just found this club as my 3 year old Drew is left-handed we discovered. Being extremely right-handed I have found trying to teach him how to write has been difficult for me and didn't want the classic 'crab' style for him. He starts Primary school this september so i think the left-handed stationary set will be a purchase for him. He is very proud of his name certificate and I am giggling at the fact we already have an anti-clockwise clock as the other half likes to mess with peoples heads, yet might actually be easier for him. Thank you very much this has been a big help already.
  69. Stan
Recently attended a Photography Seminar at which various camera bags were evaluated.
It was mentioned by the presenter that the Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW Backpack was not ideally suited to left-handed people due to the single strap having to be worn over the right shoulder with awkward acces to the camera equipment inside the bag.
Wish I had known about this before I bought this product from overseas on eBay some time before I attended the seminar. Let the buyer beware.
  70. Andy
I'm 22, only in the last month discovered some amazing and unique information about 'us' haha
I've only ever struggled with scissors. Why no one has ever mentioned to me how superior
    We are I don't know!
Everything I have done in my life makes abit more sense now, karate football table tennis, even my career in 3d design.. I have woken up and i have smelt the bacon!
    Yeehaa.
    Calendar is wicked!
Looking forward to celebrating my 1st August13th
  71. Lorna
Pretty cool....have never seen one reversed.
  72. Laura
i am an identical twin and i am left handed and my twin sister is right handed. i am the only left handed person in my whole family and family history. and its hard being left handed i work in vet office and everything is for right handed people.
  73. robin
OMG, this is the best thing since sliced bread. I have been a distressed left-hander my whole life. To this day it still amazes me that people are amazed that i am left handed. I mean i feel like the face of a murderer.... I DIDN'T KNOW YOU'RE LEFT HANDED! Like I've mutilated babies or something!! I have to admit it's a total turn on when guys tease me about it, cuz it makes me special, sets me apart from the "other girls". LOL. Peace to my lefty brethren!!
  74. Faruque Malik
The Lefthanded Calencer is completely unique and versatile. It is remarkably easy for our use. Where was it before all these years ? !!!!!
  75. Brian
Can't wait to put this upat my desk - will baffle my boss - but then, that's not hard to do! Thank You.
  76. Arthur
Unlike Louise I have always read from left to right. I have never heard of any lefty having that problem and I am 83 years old. I do most things using my right hand. I worked with a person in a shop for a number of years before he noticed that I was left handed as I used most machines right handed.
  77. Louise Elliott
I am very left-handed - books used to go flying across the room when I was learning to read as I stubbornly tried to read from right to left and couldn't understand why it was not making sense. It took me a long time to work out that I had to ignore this natural instinct and start everything from the left instead, thus it took longer to do anything with the result that I thought I was stupid; whereas the opposite is true for all left-handers as we have to be adaptable and adjust to living in a right-handed world!

I was not aware of this tension until I came across your website and realised that I could use the scissors without having to think about it, open notebooks the 'right' way around and now read a calendar - thank you for helping to relax my brain and making my life that bit easier!
  78. Adam
I'm still waiting for a left handed chainsaw, its bloody unfair, even my back pack weed sprayer..designed for right handed people.
  79. Bug
As a lefty thrre and still are challenges. The desk at school used to cure to the left not good. Zippers, doors cars in america, measuring cups rulers, oh man. Im 48 now and use bolths by force. As a child my mom made me feel special by finding a lefty stoe called south paw. Its not around any move but I thought a mug for lefties was the coolest. I took dance a a child also and that was a trick because you always start with your right and turn right and do most things stage right. I have 12 years dance training with three years of point. My elementry school in the 70's had no idea what to do with me accept to recite three letter words all day. Mom found an independant class that forced speed reading. I cried, that wasnt the solution atall. Everyone told my mom I would outgrow it, or addapt. Wow. Im a Dental assistant for 30 years now, ive not outgrown it, I have addaped. Almost all equiptment is for right handers. I have two girls, neither are lefties. I did manage to get remarried to a lefty. Thanks for listening, great place to vent to people who know.... The calendar is the bomb.
  80. Maud
Really cool! I love it :))

    Wow,
How could I have used one of those righthanded backward calenders for most of my life? I used the 2011 and 2012 calenders and am not at all comfortable using that other type of calender. So thankful that I can use the proper calender. Thanks much.
  85. Beth Ward
This is really cool. I was skeptical at first because I have been "trained" to read it the "other" way for so long. But I really like it now!! Thanks for giving us a freebie!!!
  86. Pauline
I am proud to be left handed, I found it very hard when I was growing up, but now that I am a member of the left handed club, it makes life a lot easier. Keep up the good work, thank you very much for the welcome newsletter that I receive from the left handers club.
  87. Dr. Chai Charles Moua
    Dear Left-handers:

I just really feel a belong after 44 years of my life. Thank you... I just like to know whether there is a locat or national Left Handers Organization?
  88. Peter McMahon
    Hi,
I'm another Leftie who was born on a Friday 13th, (May 1955). I have spent my life in a right handed world and have become ambisinisterous (much better than ambidexterous!). When playing single handed racquet sports like tennis, badminton etc, I'm left handed (can also use my right hand really well so have two forehands and two backhands) but with two handed sports like cricket, golf or baseball I'm right handed. I kick with both feet playing football and rugby and write with my left hand. Confused? Try being me! It's great as it really bugs people who think they have my handedness sorted in their heads thenIi go and switch.
  89. Cathy McLaughlin
Thank you for the backwards calendar, been looking forward to this!!
  90. Gail Williams
When will the 2013 calendar be coming out????? Please please please, I sit it on my desk at work, and have started having 2013 queries........... (and it confuses the daylights out of my colleagues!!)

Hello everybody, It is great to be a be a part of left-handers club. Like Trevor says - we all should share our experiences.

Especially when you are in science field and you work in a lab- setting you will face many lab equipments every day which are right handed and you being a left-handed have to struggle to use those equipments. I have some bitter but cool experiences of using those equipments.

Welcome everyone and thanks for being a part of Lefty's group!!

Hi every body, I have just known the Website today, the Association for left hander is really good, and neccessary, thanks for building the web, I am a lefthander and I will visit frequently. Best regards, a Vietnamese man.

Whoa! I'm Indonesian. Just found this website today and felt so lucky! I used to experienced estrangement back then in elementary because i'm 100% left-handed (cuz in Asian countries, it's not polite to be left-handed).. but, my Mom n Dad supported me.. Now, i'm a teacher and currently teaching in Papua. The only thing i learned to play with right-handed style is guitar (because there's no left-handed guitar around that time.. so, i was forced to learn that way^^) Sometimes if i'm not busy, i draw, i write story or poem, or make songs. I'm into calligraphy and publication design a lot, and still exploring! :) Proud to be a lefty!
  100. Bianca
    This is awesome lefties rule!
  101. Denise
I am the only lefty out of 5 kids but managed to have 2 kids that are both left handed. I have a set of twin granddaughters and one of them is a lefty! What's the chances?
  102. Berna
My birthday was yesterday and today is National Lefthanders Day! Two days for me in a row!
  103. Melody
I am the mom of 3 kids & my middle son is left handed. He will be 6 in November & is highly intelligent for his age & always has been. He chose to be left handed as an infant.
We went to a left handed store in San Francisco when he was 2 & got a left handed pencil with grips on it. Fantastic store!

My son is truly one of a kind, being left handed, bifid uvula (2 uvula) & born with blue eyes &a section of the right eye has brown just like his dad, his older brother & his younger brother. Through the years his eyes have changed colors to an olive green, but the brown spot has stayed the same.
It is a challenge at times for him, like with scissors, mouse clickers on computers & teaching him to tie his shoes.
  104. Michelle
I just found this site. Awesome. I am 50 and over the years of trying to adapt, though I am predomiantly left-handed, I can now almost be classified as ambidexterous (spelling?). Its to the point where now, if I am doing something new I try out both hands and use whichever feels more comfortable. I am a musician, engineer, artist, athletic, and in general an all-rounder aptitude. I also suffer from depression, anxiety and psychological quirks. I have the typcial leftie syndrome.
  105. Tom
I bought a left handed watch some years ago. I still have it somewhere. Drove people nuts!
  106. Rachel
Hello. I'm a black girl and I'm the only left-handed person in my immediate family. I feel really special because I'm different in a lot of ways, including being left-handed. I love book clubs, left-handers clubs, and all sorts of nice positive things, so that's why I joined this left-handers club.
    1. culluts
I am a black woman who is also the only left-handed person in my immediate family. My mother used to say that back home (she's from Belize), they used to say left-handed people belonged to the devil. One of my uncles on my mother's side was also left-handed, I believe he was the only one in his immediate family as well.
  107. devil dante

  110. Adrienne
yey for lefties! the leftie calender is kind of confusing to read at first because i am so used to the righties calender lol but i acctually like this one better

  114. william a focht
Just a little tidbit that when I was in grade school, the teachers did shun on left handers.
I remember getting rapped on the left hand with a yard stick for using the left hand instead of the right.
My mother had to deal with the school board to get things straightened out at the time.
  115. dul
hi m left hander from indonesia, this is a cool website for left hander's all over the world,,,,!!! it's fun for being lefty. thanks for the calendar, thats amazing,,, :)
  116. Norbert
    Hi everyone,

It's nice to be part of a club where people share similar attributes.
I was just telling my girlfriend that being an all lefty, as in left handed and
left footed, is even more rarer.

Funnily enough, me and my girlfriend have been together for three years, but
she only noticed this morning that I am left handed. She actually says, she wishes
she would be left handed as they are more creative people.
  117. joey rivera
I hate smearing my letters when I write!
    1. Karen
You have to learn to turn the paper away from you and slant your letters backwards in order to keep the ink off of your hand. Either that - - - or use a different pen! : )
  118. Pua
    Aloha from Hawaii
Born a left-hander, always a left-hander, they never tried to convert me to right in school back in the 50's so I am grateful for that. Both parents right-handed, older brother and I are both lefties, other two siblings are right. However, my maternal grandmother and maternal uncles are lefties and there are quite a few of us in Hawaii. I find it very useful that I can use the phone and write messages at the same time as well as other techical items while the righties have to hold the phone to their ear with their shoulder(looks very uncomfortable). Being left handed growing up in a right handed world gave us the opportunity to become ambidetexerious(?) and forced us to use both sides of our brain, that's why most lefties have higher IQs and are able to adapt more quickly. Thanks for the site and yes we are special!!
  119. chinasissy
Sissy, My daughter, 7 years old, likes to write the words in her left hand. But In our country, it's unusual stuff. some friends told me i shoul change her wrting style because it would be dificult for her to write chinese words.
Thanks for God. She did it very well in writing Chines words although sometimes she wrote them very slowlly. of course, she made a mistak.
anyway, i find this net. i will not change her wrting style.
    1. Emily
You made the right choice. No lefty should be forced to change what hand they write with.
  120. candy
    lefties are the best!!!!
    1. Benriv
Can every left handed write with their right hand?
  121. best sewing machine
You understand thus considerably in relation to this topic, made me individually imagine it from numerous numerous angles. Its like men and women don't seem to be interested except it's one thing to do with Girl gaga! Your own stuffs nice. All the time take care of it up!

This is funny. As I am Jewish, we read and write from right to left...
  125. Phil
Thanks for the 2012 calendar. Last year I gave a 2011 calendar to a left-handed client and she recently called and asked if I had a 2012. The timing was perfect!

Here's an interesting left-hander story: I am the only lefty in my family and and my daughter has always told me I taught her to tie shoeslaces backwards. And put a belt on backwards. She called recently and said my granddaughter brought home her first report card and she had an "N" in penmanship. She talked to the teacher and the teacher said that actually her penmanship is great, it's her mechanics that are "wrong". The bottom line was that the way she holds a pencil is the way (according to the teacher) most lefies hold a pencil. Asking my granddaughter how she holds a pencil is the same way as my daughter. So I grabed a pencil and described how I hold it. Turns out we do it totally different. I rest the pencil on the middle finger of my left hand with the index finger on top and my thumb to the right. My daughter and granddaughter rest the pencil on the 3rd finger of their right hand with the middle and index finger on top and the thumb on the left. So . . . . who taught who how to write! If the teachers theory is correct, obviously a righthanded person taught me, but why didn't I teach my daughter the same method. My wife is righthanded like everyone else. Who influenced my daughter!!! And is the teachers theory correct? How do fellow lefties hod a pencil?
    1. Nancy
Well Phil I'm lefthanded and I hold the pencil the same way you do. But I can also write right handed (not as well as lefthanded, but I can do it) and I hold the pencil the same way.
    2. Anne
      Phil~
I write the same way you describe you do.... I don't position my hand in a recurve way that many lefties do. (As a kid, I didn't want anyone to notice that I was a lefty, since it was at a time when schools thought everyone should write with their right.) I don't drag ink over the page or my hand, either. My paper is straight on the table, too.

I wonder why your granddaughter's teacher felt she should downgrade her penmanship just because she uses what seems to be considered non-standard form? What difference does it make?!?! Love being a lefty!
  126. yolanda Gonzalez
Thank-you for the calendar,Im a left-handed,proud to be,but sometimes is so dificult to live I'm the right material world we are special.
  127. Terrence
I just recently discovered the left handed club. I like the calender. I'm in my 70's and am just now looking for left handed kitchen stuff. I was one of those that got whipped and locked closets and such other things. I got punished a lot because I wasn't able to stop using my left hand. I'm still left handed.
    1. Coral
      Hi Terrence
I can sure relate to being punished for being a lefty.
I am 62, and have a piece of lead on my left hand left from when a teacher stabbed me with my pencil for being left handed. The was many a time I got my knuckles cracked with a ruler for the same reason.
My mother was left hande, she was not allowed to use her left hand in school.
Any other lefty's with horror stories?
    2. Anne
      Terrence~
So sorry you were harassed for being left handed. I'm in my 50's and my elementary parochial school days were marked by their efforts to make me right-handed. --Didn't 'take' with me, either!
  128. Elaine Kelly
After graduation in the '60's, on my first job, I was told being left-handed was a handicap. They had already hired me when they realized I was left-handed. I was told they would give me a trial. I used the instrument upside-down, but got the required result and made my production before the right-handed person, who was hired the same day. Later I became a Licensed Nurse and had to learn to use the right-handed instruments in the hospital, left-handed and had no problem. My mother taught me to crochet and knit by sitting in front of her, watching her, and I learned quickly. I learned to play guitar before left-handed guitars were made. My brother restrung my guitar, putting the strings up-side down. I'm also a seamstress, having to deal with the sewing machines also built with the right-hander in mind. Our world has been strange for us left-handers, but haven't we had fun showing the world just how intelligent we really are! On last August 13, I took some of my left-handed items to work and enjoyed watching my right-handed co-workers struggle to hold the scissors, etc. in their hand and try to use tham. And when they saw my ruler, my watch and my calendar, the look on their face was priceless. Just wanted to share that part of my life, thank you for reading.
    1. Noel Wiltshire
I spent many years working with electronic test gear. I had to overcome a serious problem in that when I was making adjustments, I couldn't see the dials on the equipment.
    2. gillian
I have joined a web-site called authonomy.com . It's a site for writers, but some people join to read books. I have an anthology on the site called 'Don't Wake the Lion! Two of my stories, GUARDIAN ANGEL and NOTHING' IS RIGHT, have left-handed heroines.
  129. Debbie
Hi, I love The Left Handed Club I feel right at home here I no that I have lots of friends in here that know what we all go there. Love the calendar I can read it, looks normal to me thank you.I have been a lefty all my life but I feel speical sometime because God pick us to be speical people. So keep up the good work I look forward for your newsletter in my email THANK YOU !!!
  130. Susie
Being the only lefty in my family, I used to get teased for never being able to cut bread straight (I never knew why, nor did anyone in my family!). Means that, now I'm older and know, I'm now saving for some decent knives!! :)

Anyway, one thing that gets me is that Arabic is written write to left. Surely, in that case, it would make it easier for them to write it left-handed, eh? But there are still countries where left-handers get penalised (being as the left hand is used for "dirty" chores). Odd, eh?
  131. Jeanette
I have been operating in a right-handed world so long that it is strange sometimes when I try to do some things left handed. For instance, I cannot use a left-handed mouse. I don't know if I can get used to the backwards calendar. It looks weird.

By the way, if you haven't already, everbody should check out the book The Natural Superiority of the Left Hander by Thomas deKay or something like that available at Amazon.com. I think you will enjoy it.
    1. Chrystal
I agree with you Jeanette! But I'm a leftie an proud! I had a 1st grade teacher hit me with a yardstick just because I wrote with my left hand, you could see I started on the left side of the paper just the right handers did, only (I) didn't have to write from right to left, was already there! lol
  132. Ernie
To me it looks a little wired since I never seen one like this before.
I am a true lefty!!! All my life I had to master all kinds of things that is made for right handed people.
I worked in a Machine shop for 5 years. all of them made for right handed people.
They said I would not last there long because I was a south paw. I got where I could out do a lot of the right handed worker even with less waist during the inspections. or - 1 or 2 % of what ever it called for.
I just said us "lefty" do it right!!!
  133. jeff
hi dorothy so have i did'nt know you could get so much!
  134. Amal
i am the only kid who are a left handed in my family, actually i faced alots of problems and one of the my family forced me to eat by my right handed and that unfair coz i born to do every thing by left side
  135. Robert Jaimes Girard
I come from a family with 8 children plus my parents equel 10. We were 5 left handed and 5 right handed including my mom. My dad was right handed. It was easy for us because we were equally divided. However in School back in the 1960's they tried to make me write with my right hand but soon gave up because I was obstinate and wouldn't submit. My gym teachers forced me to play baseball right handed and that is the only sport I play with my right hand. I play all other sports left handed including bowling, gulf and hockey.
I watch alot of British tv and noticed quite a few left handers over there. I wonder if any body knows if there is more left handers in the U. K. than any where else? I am curious because I believe it just can't be a coincidence. If someone can answer that for me I would appreciate it. ...Sincerely Robert J. Girard
    1. Thomas
There is quite possibly no great amount of lefties in England than in America but one important point you may consider is that lefthanders do fair well in artistic endevours, including acting, to a point greater than that of righties. Since it appers that your primary source of information about the number of lefties is based on British television programs you must consider that you may in fact be watching a biased view of how many lefties there are in the British Isles.

Also I also attended school in the 60's and the Nun's attempted to physicaly persuade me that I shouldn't write with my left hand.
  136. carmen
i love the backwards calendar! eagerly awaiting 2012 calendar :)
  137. Amelia
Hi my name is Amelia I have been left-handed all my life. Even though my parents were right handed they didn't try to make me switch. I was lucky when I started to school. Both my 1st and 2nd grade teachers were left handed. So I started off on the "right foot". My question is has anyone requested a Daily Planner for Lefties. All the ones I have bought are for righties. Please somebody out there. Won't you help us lefties.
    Thank you.
    1. Debbie
      Amelia,

Franklin Day Planner used to have left-handed pages that you could use within their conventional books. I tried them for a while, but it just didn't seem "right." Pardon the pun... You may like them, though - that is, if they still have them.
  138. Donna Carriker
Hi-I'm a lefty with a left handed husband. When our 8 kids were small I put their silverware in the center of their plates so I did not influence them to be lefties.(Now that they are grown I set the table backwards) Two of them are ambidextrous & the rest are right handed. One of the girls started to write with her left hand when she was little, but one of the boys told her "Only old people are left handed-look at Mom & Dad!" Isn't that a riot? LOL Love all the left handed info, etc. Thanks!
  139. Delores
Hello fellow left handers, so glad to have the chance to join this club, first one I have ever seen. Hope to get to know more about myself and others. This is very interesting and looking forward to the newsletter. Thanks again.
  140. Lefty Hanzelka
I am 64 years old, have been left handed proudly all my life. My brother was also left handed but they made him change when he was little, what a mistake. My grandson is left handed. I was nicknamed "Lefty" when I was 8 years old in Little League baseball and the name has stuck; there are close friends of mine that don't even know my real name. I play golf right handed and kid my buddies that I am only giving them a chance, wait til I start playing left handed. I love being left handed and love when I meet other lefties in the world. I just joined the club and look forward to learning more.
  141. Kelly
The calendar looks strange to me. But, I am wondering if any of you lefties are able to write in cursive, upside down, backwards, and with your right hand...I don't know if it means anything, but I am able to do that...it's actually pretty fun!
    1. Brenda
I am left-handed and I write cursive and I go forward on the paper and I can't go upside down, also I can write some right-handed but only because I had a teacher that told all the students that we needed to learn to write with our other hand in case we hurt our writing hand. It is great being a lefty or southpaw.
    2. Peggie
yes I can write and read backwards, upside down..and I do cursive writing. I don't hold my pen/pencil with my hand turned inward as a lot of people do..I hold them like a right-handed person. I have problems writing in tablets and notebooks because of the spiral wire that holds the paper in the tablet and/or notebook. I am proud to be left-handed.
    3. Beth
Thank you! I have always done that and considered it to be my stupid people trick! So good to know there are others out there who can do this as well...always got some freaky comments and looks for being able to do this =)
    4. Noel Wiltshire
I can't write upside down or backwards, but I can read upside down, and mirror image easily.
When people are writing on a desk opposite me, I can read every thing as they write it. You should see the look on their faces when I pick up spelling mistakes. It's a hoot.
    5. Meredith
I write in cursive and backwards. When writing in my journal or diary, I always start with the back of the last page - that way the spine doesn't get in my way when I'm writing.
  142. kathy
I have been left handed all my life and so was my mother. She was hit at school for not writing with her right hand, and made to write with her right hand. I have always been happy writing with my left hand. I use scissors with my right hand and when I learned to play the guitar found it very difficult as I was taught to play right handed. My chinese friend said that you have to use your right hand to eat in China etc, because of the reason that people use their left hand to wipe their bottom, but me being left handed I use my right hand to do that!
It is funny about your left handed watches and clocks, as when I went to Orlando Florida, I was really interested in the Walt Disney Goofy Clock, which goes backwards, and I bought one and also I have bought a Goofy watch there too.
I find it very easy to read words backwards, the only thing that annoys me is that when people see you writing they have to make a comment about me being left handed.
  143. Rhea
Hmmm. Couldn't use the calendar; looks odd. Why is it particularly for left handers? We read from left to right so the calendar can surely go from left to right? However, cheque books with the stub on the right are useful.....my husband is not too impressed though as he is right handed.
  144. Lotus
    this calendar is really cool!
you know what, when i'm a small child, my mother and i used to argue with my writing because i spell my name "sutol" and 10, "01."
i really liked this calendar coz it reminded me of my childhood days.
  145. Jetsin
Going to put this arctile to good use now.
  146. shahin
    Hi,
i am a left-hander from Mauritius. Thanks for the calendar,it's awesome and i am glad of having seen this website.i’m proud to be left hander.
  147. jeremiah
Thanks much for the calender. Its all simplified, and easy to read.
Besides and intrestingly i ask u plus all my fellow lefties whether they have tried letters backward(i.e 'b' looks like 'd' and 'n' like 'N') .Bousting over my lefthandedness i tried it only to find that this way i was even faster than the normal way;only that reading becomes difficult one has to use a mirror just because we've been blinded by them humiliating 'mr's and 'mrss' rights'
Fellow buddies dont you think its time we woke up now that we've own club!
Lets design things that only us can understand or do like writing and reading such ways.
We should sign from the left
  148. Jonny
Hi, I'm Italian, I'm a left hander. I find this website and I think it's Great.............. I don't speak English very well but .............. just to say I'm one of you 100% left-hander
    1. Trevor
Hi am the complete left hander! who is fortunate to share my Birthday on this day! I wish to have friends & like to share my experiences being Left!!
  149. Ruth de la Nougerede
This website is wicked, i've only just realised about the disagvantages us leftys have to face in every day life, and looking at that calander i realised things really are the wrong way round because i read it sooo much easier, i'm so clumsy and bump into things and destroy stuff all the time by accident, i think because the worly is designed for right handers, it sucks!! any way, i'm doing a design and technology project on finding a writing/drawing aid for left handers, i find, when i write or draw i smudge/erase stuff with my hand, and there are many other problems with writing being a lefty, i would be sooo grateful if you all could give me a bit of feedback on the 'writing being left' issue to help me with my project,
    lots of sinister love,
    Ruth xxx
    1. jeremiah njuguna
      hii Ruth,
Am a draughtsman.i started excelling in it spontaneously, just becoz of the leftness inside my brain.interesting writing a title block on my drawing would be shown to all class for its smartness.i will help u how to do it
    2. Noel Wiltshire
I love the tag line. It's a beaut.
  150. Thelma
I just joined LHC and am looking forward to investigating the site. I was born a left hander but when I was going on 5 I was adopted and for the rest of my was made to use my right hand. I am 68 and trying now to do things with my left hand. I have to think about it because my inclination is to use the right hand. You know anything I try with the left is slower than the right.
    1. Zoe
I'm doing the opposite to Thelma. I am right-handed but am learning to be a leftie so I can help my 4yr old.
This site is of a great help to me as everything my daughter does (including writing mirror image) is confusing to me. However my daughter must be converting me as the calender looked normal to me at first......but spreading butter is a skill I cannot graps.
    2. Amanda
I'm 50 and I've aways been a lefty, fortuantly I have senible parants who when they realised I was a lefty helped me. I had learnt a bit of writting before I started school at the age of 5 (no pre-school things in them days or not where we lived). But a week or two in to school I decided I didn't like it any more, so Mum got to the bottom of the problum which was the OLD teacher was making me use wrong hand for writting. The next day Mum came into class and gave her a real telling off, "My daughter will use the hand she choses to write with not the hand you choose" in front of me and then said to me if she ever makes you use the right hand tell me or you father and we will see the Head about it. I was so proud of my Mum. She is only a young (or was a the time) Mum of 17 years older then me so would only have been 22 at the time and has amitted in later years that she was dead scared of the teacher.
  151. Karen
Joined this site for my son now six, funnily those calenders look fine to me and i'm right-handed... Can't belive schools here if they remember sissors your lucky... Talking about writing backwards, my son in reception used to write mirror image backwards seems extremely difficult to my mind..
  152. Kimberly
This is great I am right handed and grew up around right handed people so I never understood how difficult it is for lefty's until I had my daughter who is a lefty. My brother was born a lefty but back then they forced kids to switch to their right hand and he has always had trouble with writing and stuff since. I never knew that it was easier for lefty's to read and write right to left. My daughter who is 5 is always doing this and I thought it was just her age. Now I know better and will find ways to help her! Thank you so much on behalf of my daughter and myself for enlightening a clueless righty!!!!
    1. Karen
Hi, just joined myself and my son did this last yr when he was five still does it but not as much though numbers are mostly backwards.... Have just bought a whole set of stuff for school hopefully it will not go missing....
  153. Anita
I just found out about dis club.its awesome. I will get to know more about lefties, my immediate younger sister is also a lefty..
  154. Gwendolyn

    Hi,
    Maureen from Kenya,love the calendar.
  156. tammy
This great ! the funny thing is I looked at it and it seemed very normal !!!!
    Love it Thank you !!!!!!!

I like it! I frequently write backwards. I have written full several page letters backwards. Have done it since I was in high school! Its my thing. I sign almost all cards backwards. One of my physician friends calls me "Leonarda" because he says that the only one he knew of that wrote backwards was Leonardo da Vinci! (I think that it was shown that Jack the Ripper wrote backwards - but we dont like to talk about that!!! LOL) I even had his name printed backwards on a nice polo shirt to remember me by! So = Write away - frontwards, backwards, or any way you like - I like it!!!!

PS - I do wish they would carry left handed spiral notebooks!!! I use them as often as I can, but they are increasingly difficult to come by!
    1. Maggs
I write backwards too! Printing backwards is easy and anyone can do it, but writing backwards (cursive) comes so easy to me. I love when I tell people I can write backwards and they make me prove it. They usually have to look at it in a mirror before they can read it, and they say it looks normal when they read it, not sloppy.

Hi! Am a leftie from Kenya. The Calendar is really interesting. I absolutely love it. Thanks for the good work! Ooh, another thing....am the only leftie in my family and am very very proud of it, kind of unique, you know...........
    1. Galea1
Dont let anyone bring you down because of it - some of the most intellegent, creative, wonderful people in the world are left handed! See - YOU are! Celebrate it! We've all been there - at least a lot of us have - where someone either tried to make us change hands. or turn our papers the wrong way (to accommodate RIGHT handedness) or made fun of us - but we know how good we are and how much we have to share with the world - so take heart and you're doing the right thing by loving being unique!

      Hi Dede,

This is Maureen from Kenya and a fellow leftie.

    Hi,

Am new just found the website thinks its great i even signed my mum up.
  160. Gail
I've used this calendar on my desk at work for the past 3 or 4 years. It confuses the heck out of everyone, and goes well with the mouse sitting on the 'wrong' side of the keyboard.
  161. Burak
In previous years, the calendar was also available in HTML format (converted from an Excel file). This allowed me to modifiy the calendar to include week numbers and national holidays.

Could you also post the calendar in Excel format so that I can modify it?
    1. Keith
Good point - I will upload the Excel version so you can adapt it as you want for your own needs - see the links at the top.
    2. Patience

      Hi Farahan

If you or any other lefties out there have design skills and can make a better version of the calendar with some colour and images please have a go at it and let me know and we will add more versions to our page. I have added the original Excel version of the file to the downloads above so you can play with the layout and formatting. Contact Keith if you want to share your version and have it added to this page.

    Hi!
I love this calendar, so interesting for a left-handed like me...
  167. Malree
This calendar is awesome! I just wish people would make magazines, books and notebooks backwards too. That would be rad! I hate reading from left to right. It's never felt right. I've always had problems reading face clocks, too. I noticed the left-handed clock for sale. I didn't know that was a left-handed thing! I read that clock perfect!

Thanks for the calendar, but there's no way I could ever imagine using this.

It would never have occurred to me that this would be something a lefty would desire, but it's nice that you provide it for those that do.
